“Lying inside, I felt calmer than I had imagined.”
“I remembered an afternoon from my childhood.”
“The place I had been avoiding all along turned out to be the place I longed for most.”
“Everyone I missed came back.”
“When everything became quiet, the memories began to surface.”
“Thank you to the person I was back then for not taking my own life.”
“Will you plant a tree on me?”
“Home.”
Eleven years ago, we lay inside coffins and let the stories hidden within our bodies begin to develop.
Eleven years later, what do we still remember?
“How long until you come back? How long until you come back? How long until you come back?”
Grandma asked again.

Exhibition Introduction|
Visitors enter a sensory rehearsal space for memory, composed of warm light that brightens and dims like breathing, images wrapped in white fabric, soundscapes, scents, and objects from home.
Here, they are invited to lie down, move closer, listen, and feel their way through the space, waiting for memories on the verge of disappearing, yet still lingering within the body, to slowly develop.
The works begin with my experience of accompanying my grandmother through dementia, and extend toward the destabilization of my own professional abilities and sense of identity in the age of AI. These personal experiences of losing one’s capacities are placed alongside a form of “collective dementia” emerging within an algorithmic landscape.
When we can no longer prove who we are through memory or function, what remains?
Perhaps the body remembers before the mind does.
